Designer Vi Hoang was born in Houston, Texas, growing up with a deep love for the arts. That love developed into career choices that led her to the world of fashion today. Hoang has a background in interior design, graphic design, studio arts, fashion design, and more recently, photography. With a BA in fine arts, she began her career as an interior designer in the new development home industry in Houston. Not long after she entered the work force, Hoang's sister urged her to enter a fashion design contest via Glamour Magazine and sponsored by Corelle dinnerware. With the deadline looming, she was unsure of whether she should even try, but her sister encouraged her to go for the gold. Her design was quickly drawn, overnighted, and forgotten about until she received a call from Glamour months later, informing her that she had won the contest along with a mentorship and a trip to New York City. Her calling was unfolding. Vi relocated to New York City and attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2008. In 2010, she won Daily Candy's 'Start Small, Go Big' business contest, earning her a start as a small fashion label. She came up with the name 'Dolly Pearl' because she wanted her line to not only sound feminine, but also reflect her southern roots. And so it began.

Shortly after Vi won Daily Candy's 'Start Small, Go Big' contest, the franchise owner of Bella Bridesmaids contacted her in hopes of collaborating on a capsule collection for the company. Jumping on the opportunity, Vi found the special occasion wear and bridal industry to be the perfect way to express her modern yet feminine design philosophy. It was (and still is) challenging yet rewarding because she has had the wonderful opportunity to meet and develop relationships with so many women who shared her aesthetic for occasion wear. Hoang is known for her minimal silhouettes with architecturally feminine details. She is continually refining her ideas to evolve with the modern woman. Dolly Pearl is made locally in the USA, and focuses on high quality materials, special details, and a unique point of view--made for the non-traditional and fashion forward.

In her spare time, Vi enjoys writing, drawing, painting, travel, and photography. Her ultimate goal in life is to work towards humanitarian efforts in her immigrant parents' home country of Vietnam.
